Commonwealth mine records, 1895-1938 (bulk 1905-1935)

Includes mainly correspondence, legal papers, financial records, and reports relating to the management of the mine by its various owners. The records best characterize the daily operations of the mine between 1910-1930, and the managerial and financial skills which kept the mine operating. The directors of the Commonwealth Mine ventured into several other businesses, and brief records are present for B.S.B. Egg Farm, Coronado Cattle Company, Glenn Land and Cattle Company, Midwest Sugar Company, and Worlds Fair Mine Development Company. A.Y. Smith was also active on the Cochise County Highway Commission in 1919, and some of their correspondence, reports, and minutes are included.
